Bereavement Support

Loss and Grief Recovery Loss is not limited to the death of a loved one. It may also include : moving, loss of a pet, loss of a home, financial loss, health issues or divorce. The response to loss is as varied as each individual personality. There is no right or wrong way to grieve. There are also many ways to recover. I believe that when we drop into the heart we complete the grieving experience and can recover our joy.

Myths you may have heard Time Heals All Wounds, Be Strong, Donʼt Feel Bad, Keep Busy, Donʼt Cry, Move On, Let Go…. But What Actually Heals us? We hear these words, offered by well meaning friends and family, usually when we are hurting the most. Have you stopped to think about what the words really mean? Do we believe that by “keeping busy” our heart will heal? We will forget? Grief is a normal and natural response to loss. Information in our society about dealing with grief is often not natural, normal or helpful. Most of what we learn about dealing with loss is intellectual. Can our thoughts heal our pain? Completion of pain caused by loss is what allows us to heal and move on. This happens in the heart, not the head! Next steps? I am a Certified Grief Recovery Specialist trained by the Grief Recovery Institute (GRI). In more than 30 years of service, GRI Specialists have helped thousands of people in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, UK, Sweden and is being used in Rwanda to help the victims of genocide heal. The Grief Recovery Method provides action choices that help people move beyond the pain caused by loss. The program creates a safe environment to look at old beliefs about dealing with loss, to look at what losses have affected your life, and provides the action steps that lead to completion of the pain attached to one of those losses.
