Loss and Grief Recovery

Loss is not limited to the death of a loved one. It can also include the loss of a relationship, a move, the death of a pet, loss of a home, financial hardship, health challenges, retirement, or divorce. Any significant change can bring grief.

Each person responds to loss in their own way. There is no right or wrong way to grieve, and no single timeline for healing. Every heart has its own rhythm.

Grief is a natural response to loss. Yet many of us were taught messages that do not truly help when we are hurting.

Common Myths About Grief

You may have heard:

  • Time heals all wounds

  • Be strong

  • Don’t feel bad

  • Keep busy

  • Don’t cry

  • Move on

  • Let go

These phrases are often offered with love and good intentions, but they can leave grieving people feeling unseen, rushed, or misunderstood.

What Actually Helps Us Heal?

Healing does not come from pretending we are fine or pushing pain aside. It comes from gently acknowledging what has happened, honoring the feelings connected to the loss, and taking healthy action steps toward completion.

Many people try to think their way through grief. But grief is not only an intellectual experience—it is deeply emotional. Real healing happens when the heart is included in the process.

When we allow ourselves to feel, express, and complete unresolved pain, we make room for peace, gratitude, and joy to return.
